Let’s be honest: We spend far too much of our time on things that neither move us nor take us anywhere. And yet, there is a whole world out there waiting to be discovered – full of stories, landscapes, people and places.
I have been travelling for more than 40 years – and I’m nowhere near done. Quite the opposite. The curiosity is still there, and if anything, it has only grown stronger.
Whenever I’m not working, I head outdoors: into nature, up a mountain, into an unfamiliar city or to a place that surprises me with its atmosphere and its story.
Turnagain is my personal perspective on this world. On all those places that move me, surprise me or simply refuse to leave my mind. No glossy travel brochure clichés – just my own experiences, stories and photographs.
And because stories for me don’t begin and end with travel, I write beyond the road as well. I work as a cultural brand consultant, social media expert and author, exploring how brands and people can tell stories that resonate and stay with us.
My non-fiction book “Social Media im Tourismusmarketing” explores digital communication in the travel industry. In January 2022, my first novel, "Waschen. Föhnen. Morden”, was published by Piper Verlag. Since then, six more novels have followed.
Many of my travels and personal experiences find their way into these stories – sometimes in plain sight, sometimes hidden between the lines. Places I have visited, encounters I have had and situations I have experienced become settings, sources of inspiration or small details that bring my characters and their stories to life.
Perhaps that is the most beautiful connection between my two worlds:
I travel to experience stories. And I write to let them live on.
In the end, that is what it all comes down to for me: staying curious, experiencing stories and wasting as little as possible of the damn short time we have.
So, come along. There is still a hell of a lot to discover.
